Last week, Cookie and Shadow, our mischievous canine companions, had a run-in with a skunk. Let’s just say, it was a “smelly” adventure that left us all in stitches. After our surprise adventure and countless baths, one thing became clear – we needed to replenish our treat supply. Off to PetSmart, my son and I went, going on a new adventure of our own.
As we walked through the aisles, my son’s eyes lit up when he spotted the dog toys. He had a mission: find the perfect toys to make up for the skunk encounter. The first contender was a Frankenstein dog stuffed animal. He thought it was just the right match for Cookie. As for Shadow, well, he thought of something different – a Red “Dogritos” stuffed toy.
I could not help but smile as Shadow seemed to critique the “Dogrito” with a look that said, “What is this? How about a treat instead?” On the other hand, Cookie quickly formed an instant bond with his Frankenstein friend. He’d hug it tightly, remove its hood, and thoroughly enjoy his newfound toy.
“family is away place.” We even had to gently convince him not to take his cherished toy into the backyard, his most treasured play area.
Watching Cookie interact with his Frankenstein buddy is truly heartwarming. It’s a sight that brings smiles to both Rosa’s and my face. It’s a reminder that in the midst of life’s unexpected adventures – skunks included – the simple joys of a child and his loyal canine friend are a true blessing.
