So, there I was, faced with a box of tempting Krispy Kreme donuts, all thanks to my thoughtful wife, Rosa, who had picked them up after a showing. Our son had been pleading for these treats, and Rosa could not resist his puppy-dog eyes. As I opened the box, my eyes searched for the familiar sight of an old-fashioned donut, my personal favorite. To my dismay, the box contained every flavor except the one I craved.
Now, I am not a huge donut enthusiast, especially when it is late in the day. I even told Rosa that I should not eat one, fearing the sugar might keep me up at night. But she dismissed my concerns, assuring me it was only 3 PM and I had nothing to worry about.
Against my better judgment, I caved to the sugary temptation and joined in the family feast. Little did I know, my worry was well-founded. At 1:30 AM, I found myself wide awake, battling the effects of the sugar rush. Every attempt to fall asleep was hindered, leaving me in a sleep-deprived haze.
As dawn broke, the harsh sound of the morning alarm jolted me awake, reminding me of my lack of rest. Here I am now, fueled by determination and excessive amounts of coffee, trying to face the day’s challenges.
