The three things to consider before purchasing a home with solar panel or adding solar panels to your new home:
- Does your neighborhood or area have sales with solar panels? If your neighborhood or area has few similar sales with solar panels it will make it harder for an appraiser to add value to your home.
- Are the solar panels leased or owned? If the solar panels are listed it is unlikely to add value.
- Are the solar panels new or older? Aging solar systems that produce less energy or are nearing the end of their effectiveness will add less value.
