Exploring New Ways to Enjoy Coffee: Espresso with Topo Chico

Being a coffee lover, I’m always open to exploring new ways to enjoy my daily dose of caffeine. So when I stumbled upon espresso with Topo Chico during a trip to New York City with my son in 2019, I was intrigued.

We visited the New York Roastery Starbucks Reserve on our last day in the city, and I was handed a small cup of what appeared to be water alongside my double shot of espresso. Initially, I was confused, but as soon as I took my first sip, I was hooked. The combination of the fizzy mineral water and the creamy, smooth espresso was a game-changer.

For the uninitiated, Topo Chico is a brand of sparkling mineral water that is especially popular in Mexico and parts of the United States. Its unique mineral taste adds a tangy and refreshing flavor to drinks.

When paired with espresso, the Topo Chico highlights the bold, nutty flavors of the coffee while also adding a bubbly and refreshing element to the beverage. It’s an excellent pick-me-up on a hot summer day or when you need an extra boost of energy.

Since my first taste at the Starbucks Reserve, I’ve become a devoted espresso with Topo Chico drinker. I whip it up at home by grinding a double shot of espresso from my trusty Breville machine and then topping it off with a splash of chilled Topo Chico. It’s a straightforward recipe, but the result is a complex and refreshing drink that I can’t get enough of.

If you’re a coffee enthusiast searching for something new, I strongly suggest giving espresso with Topo Chico a shot. At first, it may seem a little unorthodox, but once you try the rich espresso and bubbly mineral water combo, you’ll be hooked like me. It’s the ideal method to bring a little pizzazz to your everyday coffee ritual.
